Student Entrepreneur Course

The course

This program, piloted by the University of Portsmouth’s startup incubator NEST, aims to upgrade the entrepreneurial students’ interpersonal and professional communication skills, while psychologically empowering them to deal with business challenges they will face.

All data is collated as part of the research work on the impact of simulations in Education.

How it works

The course uses The Compathy Method (TCM) to place students in a wide range of real-time simulated scenarios they may experience during the early stages of their startup.  Key topics may include:

  1. Delivering your elevator pitch

  2. Meeting potential investors

  3. Dealing with challenging situations during the early stage of launching your venture

To enhance the fidelity factor, simulations are run with the support of industry specialists, investors and founders.

The aim is for the students to enter the real world with “genuine” experience generated through simulation.

It has become increasingly important for Universities to support students in getting their ideas off the ground. Our course offers a truly ground-breaking addition to the academic programme offered by Universities.
